Pest Control Techniques.
Pests are a specific communal problem in the world affecting nearly everyone. Crops undergrowth plantation and crops are destroyed by insects referred to as pests. Controlling of pests that disrupt health of human beings, destroy farm produce and vegetation is called pest control. Some of the pests that disrupt human health are mice, lice and, mosquitoes. Technology and science have advanced hence specialists have recognized a number of approaches to clear of the pests. Controlling pests have existed ever since agriculture began. Controlling of herbivores that compete with humans and types of weeds that compete with crops is necessary hence using pest control method. Pest management comprises of a number of steps to control pests. Various steps are, identify the kind of pest, and decide which method to use and lastly use the method to control the pest.
Natural Method involves using of natural parasites and predators in water resources, in agriculture farms, structures and is totally safe to human kind and pets ,for example, a cat is a pet but a predator to mice and rats. Fumigation is a method of pest control is used for structured areas and involves in closing and sealing the area airtight and inducing gas concentration to destroy entirely varieties of pests while pets are housed somewhere else. Soil steaming suffocates pests by heat and lack of air. Non-toxic oils repellents obtained from trees like Balsam fir oil rat repellent are used as the biological method. Trees produce non-toxic repellent oils to repel pests, for example, the rat repellent named Balsam fir oil. If some unique plants are planted to repel type of pests in a farm containing particular crops, for example, planting onion in a vegetable land then the method is also a biological method.
When there is involvement of insecticides, pesticides, and herbicides when controlling pests then the chemical method is at use. Space treatment uses seclusion of animals and pets so as to spray their structures and houses with insecticides to terminate and destroy pests with their eggs. Poisoning of rats using bait is known as poisoned bait. Spray method involves in using poisonous sprays through handheld sprayers to spray pests or places that are contact with pests for example mosquitoes, weevils and other crop pests. Spraying cattle to destroy ticks is an example of pesticides sprayed.
Use of chemical is prohibited in traditional method of pest control. Burning Fields is a traditional method used to extinguish insects and its eggs in the farms after harvesting. When rats and mice inhabit homes and stores then traps are set to catch them. Purpose of each trap depends on its design. Destroying of an infected crop or infested by pests either by uprooting or burning of the crop is a traditional way of pest control.
