Most Common Pre-Wedding Cosmetic Procedures

Wedding photographs not only preserve a milestone event but they also capture the bride and groom looking their best. Nowadays, it’s becoming increasingly common for brides and grooms to visit a plastic surgeon for some cosmetic work in preparation for their big day. The following are a few of the most requested procedures.

Chemical Peel

A treatment dating back to ancient times, a chemical peel uses an acid solution to remove the outer layers of skin, revealing a smoother texture and more even pigmentation. A facial peel should be scheduled well in advance of the wedding date, since full healing can take two months or more. In fact, experts recommend scheduling a peel around 9 months before the wedding.

Micro-Needling

Micro-needling is a cosmetic treatment that stimulates the production of collagen underneath the surface of the skin, making the skin firmer and younger looking. The doctor uses fine needles to create small wounds underneath the skin at varying depths. Many doctors use micro-needling in conjunction with a topical application of platelet-rich plasma, or PRP – a substance taken from the patient’s own blood and reintroduced to the skin to promote healing. Experts recommend getting micro-needling about six months before the big event.

Injectables

Another very popular cosmetic treatment these days is an injectable – either a neurotoxin, like Botox, or a dermal filler, like Juvederm. Neurotoxins relax and smooth the muscles under the skin, which diminishes the appearance of wrinkles and frown lines. Fillers add volume to the skin where loss of elasticity has created folds and lines. Injectables are effective but temporary anti-aging treatments with a quick recovery time. Most doctors recommend having injections at least two weeks before a big event.

Body Contouring

Brides and grooms care about more than their faces. In addition to dieting and working out diligently before the wedding, many are also going in for body contouring treatments like liposuction or Sculpsure, a non-invasive laser treatment that kills fat cells. These types of treatments can get rid of stubborn fat that won’t go away with diet and exercise. The best time for a Sculpsure treatment is about 3 months before the wedding.

These are just a few methods that brides and grooms are using to perfect their wedding-day look. See more from Dr Zacharia at Twitter.com.
